Reston Hoops High School Basketball

Our High School Basketball Division offers an incredible opportunity for athletes to engage in exciting weekend games, form lasting friendships, and enjoy a relaxed yet competitive environment. All games and open gyms are held at South Lakes High School on Saturday and Sunday evenings, giving students a convenient and fun way to stay active and connected with their peers.

GAMES
The season kicks off in January, with regular games and special tournaments continuing through February. While games are primarily held on Saturday evenings, Sunday games are reserved for make-up games due to weather-related or gym closures. At the end of the season, all teams are invited to participate in an exhilarating tournament to showcase their skills and teamwork! CLICK HERE FOR RULES

PRACTICE
We understand the busy schedules of high school athletes, so we’ve designed a flexible approach with no formal practices. Instead, we provide open gym time every Sunday night at South Lakes beginning in December through February/mid- March. Teams can use this time to run practice drills or simply enjoy pickup games. This setup allows players to build their skills and team cohesion on their terms.

TEAM FORMATION
Our High School Division embraces flexibility and inclusivity. Here’s how players can join:

  • No Skills Evaluations: Players are placed directly on teams without evaluations, focusing on enjoyment and accessibility.
  • Pre-Formed Teams: Players are encouraged to form teams with friends. A complete team needs 7-8 registered players.
  • Friend Requests: Athletes can submit friend requests during registration or email us with their preferences.
  • Individual Placement: Don’t have a full team? No problem! Smaller friend groups and individuals will be matched to create balanced teams, ensuring everyone has a chance to participate.

For team placements or friend requests, please email [email protected]. Forming a team with friends is a fantastic way to ensure you’re playing alongside familiar faces!
Please note, if you are currently playing on your high school basketball team, you are unable to participate in our league. Please come out to cheer!

COACHES
Adult supervision and guidance are available, with coaches assigned to the JV teams. Varsity teams usually operate without coaches, giving players more independence on the court. Interested volunteers who want to coach or supervise can register to join our coaching team for the high school division by completing the coach registration form.
