The Select season may go longer depending on the other teams in our league. House matches are 1 hour long; Select matches are 1.5 hours.

House matches are match play and can be up to 1 hour long; Select matches are 1.5 hours regardless of games played.

PLAYING TIME ON MATCH DAY/LEAGUE RULES:

House: some league rules differ from “traditional” volleyball rules to foster growth and development based on grade level.  House league requires athletes to have equal playing time – through continuous rotation or each player play at least 2 full sets out of 3 sets played.

League rules will be provided to the coaches and will be published for families to access prior to the first match.

EQUIPMENT:
Reston Volleyball will provide team jerseys once the teams are formed. Players provide their own shorts, socks, kneepads (optional) and gym shoes.

COACHES:

Please volunteer to coach volleyball! We rely 100% on volunteers to coach teams. Volunteering to coach is not only needed to keep costs affordable, but it is also a significant part of our program’s structure, our athlete’s, therefore our community’s success. Coaches must be 15 years of older.

All head coaches selected may have one athlete play for free. Potential adult coaches and adult assistant coaches are subject to a background check. High School aged coaches can fill volunteer hours.

Training for coaches will be provided through virtual meetings, clinics, links, and documentation. Reston Volleyball will inform coaches and assistant coaches about training opportunities and options.

REFEREES/GAME DAY VOLUNTEERS:

Sign up to be a paid referee in our Referee Registration portal. Prospective officials must be at least 15 years old and have prior volleyball experience at the start of any given season to be eligible to referee.

About 2 hours of preseason (pre-match) training will be required.

OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Reston Hoops is mostly run by unpaid volunteers, except for referees, our admin and game day manager. Volunteers are always needed. These positions are much-needed and much-appreciated roles that are extremely important to run this league successfully. If you would like to volunteer in another capacity other than coaching, please contact to our volleyball commissioner  – [email protected]
